July and August highlights…we can’t believe it’s already over!

Well, what a great season of study we had here in Noosa this July and August!

We were delighted to welcome 102 junior students from France, Japan, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Morocco through July and August.

We hope you enjoyed your time here in Noosa, and perhaps these photos will bring some happy memories of your time in Noosa.

Make sure that you stay in touch with us on Facebook!

Warmer weather means time for swimming

Todays activity was just what the doctor ordered after a late night on Thursday and a hot afternoon.

The hardest part about a visit to Noosa Aquatic Centre is getting everyone out of the pool when it’s time to leave.  Everyone enjoyed ball games and the challenging rocket run, with only 2 students making it all the way to the end of the rocket.  Tomas and Sabastian have been crowned as the rocket run Kings!

Special treatment as TAP programme winds down

9 out of 11 remaining TAP students did surfing today, but for Junichi and Tomoyo, the exclusive treatment that comes with being the only two to go boating on the Noosa River was not hard to take

Tomoyo was brave enough to take the wheel for a moment but Junichi did not think that was such a good idea and chose to sit back and just enjoy the ride.  Pelicans are plentiful on the river and this one thought we had some fish for him.  Needless to say he did not hang around long when he discovered we were just sight seeing.

Relaxing Noosa River Cruise

The Noosa River was a great place to be on Friday as we eased our way around the canal front homes

The cruise turned out to be a little too relaxing for Eriko who was caught out having a little nap.  We woke her up for the next photo but I don’t think we gave her quite enough time to open her eyes.  Sorry about that Eriko! Rikuto was also making new friends and seemed to enjoy being on the water.

Zoe from Morocco joins TAP

We’ve had students from 10 different countries studying on our Junior programs this year, but Zoe is our first Moroccan!

Zoe has been to many countries like Malta and the United States, but she thinks GV Noosa the best. She says she just has been here over a week now but she has met so many friends around the world including Saudi Arabia, Italy, Spain, Korea, Japan, Croatia and Russia.

One thing she says crazy about Australia is curfew for under 18yo. Her curfew is after midnight in Morocco but she has an early curfew in Australia.  Zoe’s host family has been generous and being flexible with her but she has to  go home at certain time.

Overall though, she is loving the Noosa life style!

TAP English + Surfing…is this winter??

Winter time in Noosa is a little different to most other places….today it went up to 28 degrees!

TAP English + Surfing students are making the most of the amazing weather to sharpen up their board skills.  Some students are on their 4th week of the English + Surfing program, and their skills are looking great.

Balancing on the board with different waves is the most challenging thing that most of students found. Now everyone can ride and even have a time to pose for camera shot.

Looking good, guys!

Not all fun and games…

Our TAP students study very hard in the morning before they hit off to afternoon activity.

We got the camera out to catch people with their books out.  We found some students studying in classrooms, and some out in the nice sunny court yard working on speaking drills.

Nice to see everyone hard at work in their morning classes!

Rock Climbing and Basketball

Indoor Rock Climbing is a fantastic activity that everyone can enjoy. TAP students today tested their skills with a very fun afternoon!

Ayano now has a new nickname, after her amazing performance on the rock wall…she is now known as Spider Barbie! She beat all other students in the race to the top of the rock wall, in a time of about 21 seconds!!

After students had completed their rock climb, they were split into two teams for a Basketball playoff. Dark team were the winners, with the final score being 12-16.

Surfing Students

Global Village Noosa offers a unique experience for its students……The opportunity to participate in an  English and Surfing program!

Students participate in morning English classes at the college, followed by group surfing lessons 4 days per week. Currently we have 15 students enrolled in the program from  Austria, France,  Germany, Italy, Japan and Russia.

We might just find ourselves a professional surfer from this talented group!  We’ll keep a watch on their progress through this blog.

Beach Volleyball

Beach Volleyball was originally designed to give bored surfers something to do when the surf was down. Our TAP’s were anything but bored today when they competed in a beach Volleyball Championship.

Students were split into two teams, A and B.  The final scores were 27 -7, 21-18 and 21-12. Team A, Johannes, Ayumi, Ayaka, Ayano, Erika and Yukari won the title.  Ayumi and Ayaka were the stand out performers!  They outplayed all the other students (including the boys) and were still seen  working on their serves once the game had commenced.

Noosa National Park.

Noosa National Park, regarded by many as one of the most beautiful places on earth!!  Today our TAP’s had the opportunity to make up their own minds.

The weather did not disappoint, with clear blue skies and crystal clear ocean waters on display. Once the students reached their final destination “Hells Gates”, a school of dolphins appeared from the ocean depths and provided some amazing photograph opportunities. I’m sure all our TAP’s will sleep well tonight and return to school tomorrow nice and refreshed for Tuesday’s activity…..Beach Volleyball!!!

Dideridoo Day!

TAP’s enjoyed a special Australian cultural afternoon! They learnt about Australian history and also how to play the oldest instrument in the world……The Australian Didgeridoo.

Some students are leaving us this weekend :( They have informed us that  they have had the time of their lives!!!

TAP student Remi said, “I love GV Noosa. I really don’t want to leave”. Hayami, who was very home sick in the beginning of her studies said, “I cannot wait to return. I will be back in Winter or Spring”.

We are so proud of our TAP’s and the progression they have shown!!!! We hope they continue with their English studies when they return home.

Shinai school visit

The Shinai Junior High School visited Peregian Beach College on the 3rd of August. They were introuced to fellow students and their new special “Buddies”.

After lunch, the students participated in a Drama and Music workshop.  They rehearsed and performed two new dances.  Airi impressed the PBC students with her musical talents, by performing two songs on the electric piano.   It was a very fun afternoon for all our Shinai students and a great opportunity to improve their English!

Basketball, Wakeboarding & Sailing

Basketball,  Wake boarding and Sailing……These are some of the fantastic activities that the TAP students have enjoyed during the week!

Never a dull moment with our TAP’s, each activity has become quite competitive with many of our students showing great sporting talents!

Welcome Shinai Junior High School

Shinai Junior High School students arrived at Global Village Noosa last week.

The students study English in the morning and participate in a vast range of different activities in the afternoon.

They went to Australia Zoo, enjoyed Horse riding and spent the afternoon at Noosa’s Main beach. They have all expressed how much they have enjoyed the activities so far.

The girls enjoyed a great afternoon riding horses along a forest trail which lead to the beach. Mako said it was scary at first but she soon gained confidence and became more comfortable. Mayu said it was very interesting. Nanami said it was painful but fun. Akira,Airi and Natsumi said it was really exciting and fun.

After the ride students visited Hastings street and enjoyed a  delicious ice-cream!!

They will visit Peregian Beach College and will join local school lessons on 3 August.
