A  First week of Fun and Adventure for our TAP students in Noosa

Noosa is the perfect place for students to explore, learn, and have a great time. This past week, we welcomed our TAP students who have enjoyed an action-packed schedule filled with unique experiences, breathtaking views, and lots of laughter. Here’s a recap of our unforgettable first week:

Monday

On Monday, we welcomed 14 students from Japan to our Teen Activity Programme: Ami, Karen, Kano, Masaki, Cafu, Taiki, Kokoro, Miki, Kotaro, Sakino, Rintaro, Ikkei, Seiichiro and Taichi.

All 14 joined our Elementary class and met our teacher, Hana, who would spend the next two weeks helping our TAPs start their English learning journey. After classes, Hana took the TAPs down to see Noosa’s stunning Main Beach and the world-famous Hastings Street for a scavenger hunt.

Tuesday

On Tuesday, after a second day of learning English, our TAPs made their way back to Main Beach to take part in some fun beach games and they got acquainted with one of Australia’s favourite sports: Cricket. They showed off their volleyball skills and played some games and dipped their toes in the sea. Having had our fill of beach fun, we headed to Hastings Street to enjoy some delicious locally made ice cream!

Wednesday

Wednesday introduced our TAPs to some of the best of Australia’s food and drinks. It’s always great fun to watch the students tear their way through Shapes, pies and sausage rolls, Vegemite, Lamingtons, Fairy Bread, Anzac biscuits and more. Australia’s food varies greatly from Japanese cuisine and the TAPs loved to sample everything, even the Vegemite!

Thursday

After class on Thursday, we were back at the beach to take part in a Surf Life Saving workshop put on for us by the Noosa Surf Club. The TAPs got to see the lifeguard’s equipment and vehicles, had a tour of the lifeguard tower and then took part in some fun games and activities in the sea. Australia’s beaches and surf can be tricky to manage and so this was a valuable session for our TAPs! After the session, we spent some time in Yo-Chi on Hastings Street and got stuck into some delicious frozen yoghurt!

Friday

To round of a great first week, our TAPs made the short trip to Noosa National Park to soak up the panoramic views of the horizon and to hunt for some Aussie creepy crawlies. We trekked through the National Park to Boiling Pot and Dolphin Point and looked out to sea for turtles and dolphins. Whilst walking, we managed to catch a glimpse of a huge goanna as well as a little curled up carpet python sleeping peacefully in the bushes.

To round off an action packed first week, we celebrated Ami, Kano, Masaki and Karen’s graduation from Lexis as they were heading back to Japan!
