Week 2 of TAP Noosa

Monday – Local Tour

With a short walk down to Hasting St our students got to know each other on a more personal level outside of the classroom. They caught up on their weekend fun with their Homestay families and learnt more about hobbies, and interests. The Local Tour included first sight at the stunning Noosa Main Beach, where to buy one of the best burgers (and chocolate thickshake) and Bettys Burgers, and had their first taste of Yo-Chi

Tuesday – Aussie Food & Slang

After Lunch it was time to learn some Aussie Slang and eat more food, indulging in LOTS of sweet treats. Because everyone has room for dessert right? Lollies were gone in seconds, but the vegemite was not as popular… The TAPS couldnt decide whether the flavour should be salty or sweet but either way, there were some very funny faces pulled at the first taste! Tim Tams were of course rated 5* The most common favourite word from their crossword was ‘Barbie’.

Wednesday – Surfing

Smiles and Vitamin Sea for our Surfers. With the sand in their toes and salt in their hair our surfers learnt the way of the water by listening carefully to expert knowledge from the instructors, and then it was time to put knowledge to the test. The waves and energy bought smile after smile as they cruised into the shoreline. It was a great way for the students to let loose and immerse themselves into Aussie Culture.

Thursday – Sandcastle Sculpture Competition

Teams were formed, it was a really great way for our TAPS to work together and combine different strategies hands on. Team Names decided and task of ‘Tallest Sandcastle” games commenced! Whilst the brief was to try and make the tallest sandcastle reaching the nearest height of the tallest member on your team (nothing was too much of a challenge for these teens), some of our students thought outside of the box…

Thinking outside the box our students thought to flip the ‘tallest’ challenge the other way and dig down into the sand, with sheer determination to dig the deepest hole creating a very comfy seat, even with arm rests!

The Arvo was filled with lots of laughter, team brainstorming, sandy hands, and developing new friendships.

Friday – Boomerang Painting

We finished off the week with some Boomerang Painting & Netflix! The TAPS learnt about the meaning of colours and designs used behind the Aboriginal Art. It was a perfect way to end the week with some relaxed chilled out vibes. Some boomerang designs were bright and colourful whilst others opted for more earthy tones to match the Land! We look forward to another busy week ahead in Paradise, catching up on each others weekends and making new friends!
